About MoonDog Track Club
Welcome!
We're excited to introduce MoonDog Track Club, a new Track & Field club proudly serving the New York State Southern Tier. Our club is dedicated to helping young athletes develop the skills, confidence, and passion needed to succeed in Track & Field through experienced coaching and a supportive team environment.
While we welcome athletes interested in all Track & Field events, our primary focus is on the sport's more explosive and technical disciplines, including hurdles, sprints, horizontal jumps (Long Jump and Triple Jump), and throwing events. Distance runners are also encouraged to join and train alongside our team.

I have been a track and cross country coach for about 11 years, starting in 2015 at Grantsville High School in Grantsville Utah. But I didn't start my athletic career coaching. I was an athlete in high school, with trips to the state meet in both XC and track, winning division championships in both track and XC. I went to NC State University where I continued my athletic career, but not in running! Surprise! I was a DI Ultimate Frisbee player for NC State.
My first year coaching I was a throws coach (I know! Most of you who know me are probably cocking your head quizzically at that!) and I learned to coach and fell in love with coaching. I was a successful javelin coach with several of my athletes making it to state and placing.
After coaching XC and track at Grantsville, I accepted a teaching and coaching position at Cottonwood High School right in the Salt Lake Valley. This is where my hurdle coaching really took off. For the 4 years that I coached at Cottonwood, I not only grew as a coach, but really started to hone my hurdle coaching technique. In those years, I had several athletes win accolades at sectional, divisional, and state meets and also was awarded the Utah 5A Coach of the Year Award for Track and Cross Country in 2021-2022. After moving closer to home, and coming to Upstate NY, I coached for a year at Southern Cayuga High School and finally landed at Ithaca High School, which is where I currently coach and teach.
In the past three years with the ICSD programs, I have taken at least one hurdler/multi to state each year. I can't thank my mentor Steve McGill enough (email me if you are interested in any of his books or his IG account - artofhurdling) and the many amazing coaches I have coached with in the past and am currently coaching with.
I am looking forward to help shape the next generation of track athletes and help guide our current varsity athletes.
I graduated from Ithaca High School (Class of 2013), where I competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, and the 4×100m relay. I continued my career at SUNY Delhi, earning NJCAA Division III All-American honors in the 4×100m relay and helping my team win the 2015 NJCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship. I later competed at SUNY Cortland, specializing in sprints and horizontal jumps.
Since my days as a student-athlete, I've trained high school and collegiate athletes in sprinting, jumps, relay exchanges, and plyometric training. In 2025, I returned home to serve as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Ithaca High School, coaching 7th-12th grade athletes in horizontal jumps, sprints and relay. I'm proud to have helped athletes achieve personal bests, qualify for the STAC Championships, the New York State Championships, and national meets, including Adidas Indoor and Outdoor Nationals, and New Balance Indoor and Outdoor Nationals.
I'm excited to help the next generation of athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and discover a true love for track and field.
I have experience coaching various levels of sports, from 3rd grade basketball to varsity level track and field. I specialize in coaching throwing events; shot put, discus, weight, and hammer throwing.
I first got involved in track and field when my children joined modified track in middle school 4 years ago. Most of my background growing up in sports was in basketball and baseball, so track and field was all new to me and I had to learn the proper form and techniques to throw far. How I did that was through reading and watching all sorts of training videos and literature on the methods of throwing. I also went to throwing clinics with my athletes and learned from collegiate coaches the proper way to teach and coach athletes the different forms of throwing. I am New York State board certified coach with the Ithaca City School District, where I coached this past year. All of my athletes this year were able to throw personal bests in their throwing events. I have athletes that were able to improve so much that they broke school records and are national ranked. I had athletes win State Qualifer events and move on to states. I had athletes throw qualifying mark to attain spots for national events, such as Adidas Indoor Nationals, Nike Indoor Nationals, New Balance Indoor Nationals, Adidas Outdoor Nationals, and New Balance Outdoor Nationals. Some of my athletes performing so well as to make finals in their events.
I look forward to helping your children/athletes perform at there best. Come join MoonDog Track Club and be part of the growing success of the Ithaca area sports!
